Are you ready for Mother’s Day? As the weekend gets closer and closer, it’s time to finalize those last-minute plans to celebrate! You really can’t go wrong with outdoor entertaining—especially not after you’ve personalized it to suit your mom. Gather all your favorite people in one place as you honor the leading ladies in your life.
Food for Thought
Backyard barbecues may be more traditional for Father’s Day. But that doesn’t mean outdoor eating is out of the question. You just need to tweak it a little for Mother’s Day! You can use the grill for something lighter, like paninis or a hot vegetable platter, and set the scene for Mom. Create a beautiful brunch spread or a feminine afternoon tea out on your deck/patio with plenty of seating for all your guests.
For a more relaxed approach, you can even throw a picnic! Instead of taking your food to-go, you can set up blankets outside and keep everything close by. It’ll be a fun dining experience for adults and children alike. Now, all we need is a little cooperation from the weather to maximize our outdoor entertaining.
It’s Chore Time
While flowers and chocolates are popular Mother’s Day gifts, if you ask your mom what she really wants—you’ll probably get a different answer. Offer her some free time, where she can relax and do whatever makes her happiest. Even as you tackle her list of weekend chores. Not only will she appreciate the gesture, but she may even be able to fully enjoy some peace and quiet. With the comfort of knowing you’re handling her to-do list, she can indulge in whatever activities she chooses. Whether that’s reading, gardening, pampering herself, or just napping. Don’t be afraid to ask for help with your newly-found chore list. At Excel Fencing & Decking, we’re known for our outdoor projects, but we’re just as comfortable making updates inside!
Take a Break
After all this excitement, it’ll be nice to spend some quality time together. We recommend putting technology aside and enjoying one another’s company. You can catch Mom up on all your current events or happily reminisce for an afternoon. Although everyone wants to commemorate these Mother’s Day moments with photos, try turning your phone off for a few hours. Take advantage of your outdoor entertaining space and really reconnect with your family. Imagine sitting on the deck together, taking in the sunset—or the sunrise, if that’s more your speed. Either way, this holiday is more about the simple experience(s) with your mom than it is about lavish gifts or showy celebrations.
